Early Dutton Elk Hunt

So apparently I was suppose to be super excited for this elk hunt. I wasn't, not going to lie. I've never killed a animal creature before, except rabbits (they don't count). I did draw for a deer tag, but I never shot one. So this my friends is my 1st KILL! Yep he's a big one, can't you tell? I thought the camera added ten pounds, I guess not for elk. Darn it.

During the 4 or 5 days that we, or I hunted, I was tossed from dude to dude, or I should say guide to guide. First Josh and Nick , then Nick, then Josh, then Luke, then Nick, then Luke and Josh. No real rhyme or reason, we went by truck, by foot, by 4 wheeler, then by foot.

FYI, any chicks that want to hunt, get a real baby sitter for your kids. Or just don't hunt.

Once the day came of this poor guys death, we got up way too early, anything before the sun is too early. Then we checked one spot, nothing, then decided to hike into the trees, hiking.... also lame. Then we found a club having breakfast (a group of ELK). Then we waited quietly and patiently, also two of my not favorite things.

Once the sun finally arrived the elk would come towards us. As my luck would have it, the bigger elk of the two in the club went the wrong direction and little tike came straight for me. I had no choice but to defend myself. I waited and waited. Almost peeing myself from all the quiet excitement. He was less than 150 yards away. BOOM! Got him straight through the heart. Luke said I gut shot him. But after he was gutted the facts don't lie. Heart shot all the way baby.

Truth is, there is nothing like stopping an elk in his tracks. But I don't plan on putting in for another hunt for quite some time. My kids needs to be much older. Dad is not a great baby sitter while mom is hunting. No offense dear. (I think it's because he's jealous while I'm having so much so called FUN)

I was truly excited. He made such great Jerky.
The gun used although not pictured was a Remington 7mm ultra magnum, model 700
Yes Parker is still in his Pj's. Like I said EARLY! As for Payton who knows why he's scowling.

Our last day with our DOG

Payton wasn't even sad to see his dog chocko go. Mostly because he didn't understand that he would never come back. He loved that dog, and that dog loved him. Labs are great for kids, bad for mothers. He was a lot of work, it just figures that he gets to where he's finally a good dog and we have to find him a new home. :( {HE'S WITH A GOOD FAMILY WITH TWO KIDS}
For all of you reading this if you live in Hurricane, UT just know it's a horrible place to have a dog, it's no longer small farm town. You suck animal control! The one thing I'll never miss about that place.
Oh the days of when baby cries were actually cute.

Romper Rides

Nick loves to take us for rides in the Romper (aka utility bobcat). This is what one trip looked like. Now this is another one, he made us official rednecks. He figured he would put a levi quilt over the top, strap in on and we would have a nice shade cover. I don't think he calculated in all the second takes we would get driving down the road. Can you say embarrassing.
But at least our cargo was shaded, and not sunburned, and look they like romper rides.
But don't forget, we've had two flat tires since our fun times began. If Nick gets me stranded one of these days he is so dead.

Oh and thanks for the back seat DAD, it's getting put to good use.

Parkers 1st Haircut

Daddy said Parker needed a haircut, he said it was way too long. I think that he didn't like comment from the neighbor "he's so cute he looks like he could be a girl". So off to the salon we went. Daddy got a much needed haircut too.

This is him fighting it. hahaha. Wouldn't you if you were stripped to your skiddies?

I don't like the hair cut, now my baby looks like a little boy. all growed up. Tear.

1st Time to the ZOO

We went to the Zoo for the first time ever! Not all I thought it would be. The big animals are fun, it was hard for the kiddos to see most of the animals, a lot of them were hiding, bummer.

Glad we went but it will be a little while before we go again.

Payton loved the crocodiles the most, at least that is what he keeps repeating, I liked the Giraffes!
